Electric Bike Being Launched In London Next Month

The world’s “fastest” electric motorbike goes on sale next month, with some saying it is set to become a practical and environmentally friendly alternative form of commute into busy cities such as London.

It will cost just under £2000 and be capable of reaching speeds of 15mph, with a “rocket boost” to provide extra speed when necessary in off-road situations. The bike’s batteries last for around 20 miles and can be charged using an ordinary mains plug.

The creators claim that due to the motor automatically cutting out at 15mph, it is exempt from road tax, congestion charges and the need to have motorbike insurance or a driving licence. However, it is quite a thin line due to the bike actually being able to reach higher speeds through the use of the rocket boost, causing some confusion before the release of the bike. Fortunately the Department of Transport have made a statement on the issue, stating that as long as riders stay below 15mph on public roads no laws are being broken.
